Principal's Message
Westmont Families,
I hope this letter finds you well as we prepare for an exciting new chapter at Westmont Elementary School. It is with great enthusiasm and anticipation that I introduce myself as the incoming Principal, succeeding the esteemed Cynthia Badillo. My name is Maria Martinez, and I am deeply honored to join this vibrant community of educators, students, and families.
I come to Westmont Elementary with 30 years of Pomona Unified School District experience as a classroom teacher, Resource Teacher, District Teacher Specialists under Educational Services, Dean at Palomares Academy and most recently, Principal at Harrison K-8. I come with a solid background in teacher and educational leadership, particularly in the area of school transformation and English Learner/Multilingual Learner programs. For the past three years, I have had the privilege of serving as Principal at Harrison Elementary School, where I have been fortunate to collaborate with dedicated educators and supportive parents to foster a culture of academic excellence and holistic student development.
One of my greatest passions is promoting multilingualism and creating inclusive learning environments where all students can thrive academically, linguistically, and socially. I am excited to bring the best practices and experiences we've cultivated at Harrison to further enhance the Dual Language Immersion program here at Westmont.
Transitioning to a new school community is both exhilarating and humbling. I am eager to get to know each of you, to learn from your experiences, and to work together in pursuit of our shared goals for student success. Together, we will continue to build upon the strong foundation laid by former Principal Cynthia Badillo and uphold the traditions of excellence that define Westmont Elementary School.
I am deeply committed to open communication and collaboration, and I look forward to meeting with each of you in the coming weeks and months. Your insights, perspectives, and dedication are invaluable as we embark on this journey together.
In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, thoughts, or ideas you may have. I am here to support you, our students, and our entire school community as we strive for continued growth and achievement. Thank you for your warm welcome, and I am excited to begin this new chapter alongside each of you.
Warm regards,
Maria Martinez
