The Westmont Elementary School Counseling Department will empower all students to reach their maximum potential through the use of a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses their needs and interests. Students will achieve academic success, social emotional growth and have access to skills necessary to be lifelong learners
in both English and Spanish with our Dual Language Immersion program.

The mission of Westmont Elementary School Counseling Department is to provide a data-driven comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the needs of all students across the academic, social-emotional, and college-career domains. School Counselors facilitate actions to promote a positive school climate that fosters acceptance of diversity, empathy for all, and perseverance through all life's challenges. In collaboration with parents, teachers, administrators, and the local community, the school counselors will advocate on students' behalf through equality and equity in order to empower and encourage them to constantly strive towards academic and social achievement.
As Westmont Elementary School's Counselor, I believe all students can learn, and every student can succeed. I believe the school counselors role is to provide a data driven developmental counseling program to meet the needs of all students through a guidance curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services, and system support. "Effective school counseling is a collaboration process involving school counselors, students, families, teachers, administrators and educational stakeholders." (American School Counselor Association, 2019 Standard: M5) The guidelines proposed by the national and state school counselor association shall continue to use this set of standards for the school counseling program. Applying the ASCA Ethical Standards for School Counselors empowers school counselors to make decisions based on the highest moral principals to promote the maximum development of every student.
