Dual Language Immersion (DLI)

Pomona Unified School District's Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program empowers students to become bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural while achieving high levels of academic success. Through instruction in both English and Spanish, students develop strong communication skills, critical thinking, and cultural awareness that prepare them to thrive in an increasingly global society.
The program follows a balanced instructional model in which native English and native Spanish speakers learn together, fostering language development through collaboration and authentic communication. Students receive rigorous, standards-based instruction aligned with the District's curriculum while building proficiency in both languages.
As students progress through the program, they gain the skills and confidence to read, write, and communicate fluently in English and Spanish, with the opportunity to earn the California State Seal of Biliteracy upon graduation.
Pomona Unified continues to expand access to Dual Language Immersion programs, providing students with enriching educational opportunities that support academic excellence, multilingualism, and lifelong success.
